Pates remain kings in EPC volleyball

Freedom has passed every test this season on the volleyball court and they look to keep their undefeated streak going heading into this week.

Freedom (13-0) is the only team in District 11 that has an undefeated mark and got a huge win last week with a sweep over Nazareth.

It was the first loss for the Blue Eagles this season and head coach John Yanek knew it was a statement match for his group.

“It’s big but has to be put into perspective,” said Yanek. “That was the independent match. Tuesday is the EPC match. I’m glad we were focused and kept battling.”

Nazareth gets a chance at redemption with this week’s rematch with Freedom on Tuesday, which was past Press deadlines, but Yanek wants his group to focus on one day at a time.

“We have a long way to go,” said Yanek. “It’s not how we start, but how we finish. No prizes yet.

We are becoming driven and working for the win, not waiting to be handed it.”

Liberty (4-6) snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a win over Easton in four games.

The ‘Canes have a chance to get back to .500 this week with matches against Dieruff and Bethlehem Catholic.
