LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Red and white farm stand is the work of a man with a big heart

Along Brookside Road, in the Wescosville area, there is a little red and white farm stand.

During summer, the little stand is joined by an older Volkswagen van. Curiosity piqued recently when Christmas trees were displayed.

This farm stand was created by Todd Farber. Originally the area just had the VW van and just sold peaches which came from Meadow View Farms. The van was not the best way to store the peaches as it was too hot and the peaches spoiled.

Farber, a chimney sweep by trade, resides at the property and has done so for 51 years. Before his residence, the property belonged to his father.

The property is not considered a farm due to its size but four acres of land is considered a garden.

Farber produces many different varieties of produce which are sold in the little red and white air-conditioned stand and $6,000 of the produce was donated to Grace Lutheran Church.

Many varieties of produce are put in the stand for sale to the community. There are also apple, peach and plum trees on the property and blueberry bushes.

There are chickens producing eggs. There are occasional egg hunts for the children in the warmer weather for a small donation.

During the holiday season, Farber became involved with Angel Tree Farms.

Angel Tree Farms aids Lehigh Valley Pediatrics, the patients and their families. Farber purchased a driller and bailer to assist customers in transporting the trees.

In addition, Farber has also added a toy chest for people to donate toys, which are given to the Dear Santa Foundation.

His stand accepted canned food donations for anybody needing food for the holidays. Will McKnight, of Deliciously Sourdough, contributed 20 loaves of his homemade bread.

It is amazing to see the booming business in this country setting created by a man with a great big heart.
