WHS course selection for the next school year will begin next month and will include a review by the counseling department. It’s important for students to carefully consider their options. Students should begin having discussions with their teachers and parents/guardians regarding course recommendations.

Students should utilize the program of studies on the WCSD website to read class descriptions and prerequisites.

Lehigh University’s Iacocca Global Entrepreneurship Intensive is a three-week, immersive, experiential learning opportunity for high school students to develop skills in entrepreneurship, leadership and global citizenship. At IGEI, teachers prepare participants to take on complex, multisystem, global challenges in creative and collaborative ways.

This year’s program runs July 5-25 on Lehigh University’s campus in Bethlehem.

For more information or to apply, visit the IGEI website or join leaders for an upcoming information session Jan. 26. You can also visit go.lehigh.edu/IGEI for further details. If you want to register for a session, email gesummer@lehigh.edu or call 610-758-6886.

Keep in mind that according to the district policy, students may only be excused by a parent 16 days per school year (eight per semester). Medical excuses are required for any absences that exceed 16 days in a school year.

Additionally, any absence not excused within three days will be considered unexcused. Multiple unexcused absences are considered to be unlawful and may result in legal consequences.

If students want to purchase extra items, they must have money in their account. This can be done through My School Bucks.

If you do not have an account and send in cash, make sure it is in a labeled envelope with the child’s name and amount. Your child can give this to their teacher, and the school will add it to the account. If it is loose change or cash without any label or guidance, it will not be accepted at the main office.
