Coplay: Sign up for spring baseball

Coplay Sports will be holding sign-ups for ages 5-15 for the upcoming spring baseball season noon-2 p.m. Jan. 10 and 24, Feb. 7 and 21 and March 7 and 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 14 and 28 and Feb. 11 and 25 at the clubhouse, 666 Potter Terrace.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., plans a chicken potpie pickup dinner Jan. 17. The drive-through pickup will be 4-5:30 p.m.

The menu includes chicken potpie, creamed cabbage, roll and dessert.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel — with a banner.

Coplay Fire Department and Fire Police are under new leadership with fire Chief Dakota Fenstermaker. If you want to serve Coplay and surrounding communities, consider joining the fire company. It is seeking volunteer firefighters and fire police.

The Coplay aerobics classes are expanding the schedule to include 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, in addition to 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium. There is a cost by donation.

Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout.

Coplay American Legion Post 426 has an special mailbox in front of the Post at 134 S. Second St. Worn-out American flags can be deposited into the mailbox for the Post to properly destroy the flags.

To join the Coplay Legion as a social member, call 610-262-7556. Social membership is open to all — veteran or not.

Coplay Athletic Club is seeking new and renewal memberships. The gym is located on the second floor of the borough municipal building. A gym membership costs $90 per year and $80 for renewals and prorated.
