Alton B. Eckert Jr.

of Slatington

Alton B. Eckert Jr., 96, of Slatington, formerly of New Fairfield, Conn. and Norwalk, Conn., died peacefully, surrounded by his family Dec. 29, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Nancy (Wells) Eckert. Born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., he was the son of the late Alton B. Eckert Sr. and Viola (Ryder) Eckert.

He was in the Army Reserves and graduated from NYU School of Engineering. He was employed at Pitney Bowes in Stamford, Conn. for 40 years where he was credited with over 70 patents. He was active with the Boy Scouts, being a Webelo and Boy Scout leader. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time at the lake house in New Fairfield, Conn. to where he eventually retired. His love for being outdoors, maintaining the property and sailing made him happiest of all.

After retiring, he found a new hobby in camping with his wife in their RV, mainly exploring the northeast. He always had a passion for learning and up to the end that didn’t change as he spent his time researching alternative energy sources and storage solutions.

He is survived by children, Amy Stambaugh (Randy), Edward (Patty), Kathryn E. Miller (Robert) with whom he resided, Donald (Kelly); 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; niece; nephew.

He was predeceased by a grandson, William Morgan; sister, Margaret Jacobson.
