SHS names student of the week

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My dad is Nabeel, my Mom Saeda, my older sister is Maya, my little sisters are Shahid and Marah, and my little brothers are Abrahim and Mohammad. I have a pet cat named Spike and a pet bird named Pepper.

Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?

A. I plan to get more involved, focus on my education and figure out my future.

Q. What is your favorite class at Salisbury High School? Why?

A. I have always loved English classes, so right now my favorite class would be AP Literature and Composition.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I got some awards for most likely to publish a book and most likely to lead a protest.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A. Currently I am not involved in extracurricular activities.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge is deciding on my future – what college I need to go to, college applications, etc.

Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?

A. My plan is to go to Kutztown and earn a degree in early childhood education.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with an historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would honestly want to meet Eleanor Roosevelt. She is such a powerful woman in history; she really changed America for the better and I just wanted to ask her, back then, how she managed to stay so strong after her husband died and was able to accomplish what she did. Many people doubted her and she stayed strong through that doubt.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I’d like to be remembered by the English department for my presentations and my poems I write in their classes. I’d like to be remembered by the energy that I always bring to each class and the fact that I am not afraid to speak up.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Learn how to quickly manage your time, especially if you are a procrastinator like me, learn what days you will be studying and what days you have sports or jobs or any extracurricular. Learning time management skills will definitely help reduce your stress.
