During the Nov. 17 North Catasauqua Borough Council meeting, council approved the final budgets for 2026 — general fund of $3,237,821.53 and sewer fund of $1,256,000. Also approved was the tax rate of 20 mills.
In the treasurer’s report, Tricia Tillman said $88,000 was transferred from liquid fuels to the general fund.
Council approved the request to apply for a 2026 Local Share Account grant for $1 million for a firetruck. This grant is for 2027.
Due to the state budget impasse, the borough is still waiting to hear back regarding a previous LSA grant it applied for. Council estimates it will receive a reply regarding a decision for this previous grant in January 2026. This application included funds for both a firetruck and roof work at the borough office.
It was announced the walk-through and audit for the MS4 stormwater runoff program went well.
Police Chief Christopher Wolfer said there were about 50 individuals who attended the Nov. 8 veterans breakfast, which was a significant increase from last year. The department extended its thanks to state Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, for attending the event.
Wolfer also mentioned Catasauqua High School students will be coming to the police station for a career day Dec. 4. Activities will be planned for the group of students.
Council discussed adding lighting under the awning at the borough office.
The borough office will be closed Nov. 26-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will reopen Dec. 1.
The borough’s annual tree lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The rain date is Dec. 1.
Council will next meet 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the municipal building, 1066 Fourth St. It is expected the month of December will include only one meeting. Keep an eye on the borough website for confirmation.
The reorganization meeting is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 5, 2026.
