Live reindeer at tree lighting Nov. 29

The Salisbury Township Recreation Advisory Committee held a meeting Nov. 17 to plan for the upcoming year of community-centered events.

The first community event discussed by the committee was the upcoming annual tree lighting ceremony. The event will take place 5-7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Franko Park, 1301 Black River Road.

Residents will have an opportunity to see live reindeer from Spruce Ridge Reindeer Farm, take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy free s’mores, hot chocolate, hotdogs and Vallos Bakery cookies all while being serenaded by the Salisbury Township School District band. Members of the Salisbury Township Police Department and both Eastern and Western Salisbury fire departments will be on hand to meet and greet residents as well.

Reflecting on the success of the September AM Radio Concert recreation director Genny Baillie announced this year the committee will host two concerts at the Franko Park venue.

If you are an AM Radio fan you won’t have to wait until September to get your 1960s and 1970s music fix because the band is scheduled to return May 30 for a concert 1-4 p.m.

Adding to the concert fun will be another popular 1960s and 1970s tribute band The Large Flowerheads who are scheduled to play 1-4 p.m. Sept. 12. This band has a huge following throughout the valley and has been voted “Best Entertaining Band” at the Lehigh Valley Music Awards nine years running.

As in the past, food trucks will be available to satisfy your hunger after working up an appetite dancing and singing to your favorite songs.

The committee also announced Salisbury Night at the IronPigs will be held June 26, 2026. More promotional information will be made available as the date gets closer but a fireworks show will be included.

The next meeting of the Recreation Advisory Committee will be 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19, 2026.
