LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

District News: District closed through Dec. 1

Whitehall-Coplay School District will be closed through Dec. 1 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

***

Order your Whitehall High School yearbook by visiting the WHS website to find the QR code or go directly to balfour.com.

The 2026 edition of the WHS yearbook, “The Whitehall,” will continue the tradition of publishing baby pictures and senior ads of graduating seniors. If interested, check the link on the weekly update or see Mrs. Derlunas in E107.

***

Are you looking to show off your school spirit? Whitehall gear is on sale now! Visit the district website to browse the online store and find everything you need from shirts, hoodies, hats and more.

***

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will be hosting a holiday drive to help benefit those in need in our community. The drive will continue through Dec. 3. Consider donating clothing, canned food and/or hygiene items to the main office.

***

There is a free Northampton Community College seminar, set for 5-7 p.m. Dec. 11, for parents/guardians to learn about the federal financial aid application, what your role is as the parent on your child’s FAFSA and how to open your FAFSA account. Laptops will be available to assist with account opening after general information is provided.

For more information, see the weekly update.

***

WHS seniors, be on the lookout for an email from Derlunas for upcoming senior portrait dates and times. If your picture has the wrong name on it, both your student ID and yearbook picture will be mislabeled. Be sure to check it and see Derlunas if you have an issue.

Seniors can check out college scholarship opportunities at studentscholarships.org and globalscholarships.com. Students are encouraged to take advantage of applying to various available opportunities.

***

Senior class dues have been posted to My School Bucks for the senior year to cover all the general class activities throughout the entire 2025-26 academic year.

***

According to WCSD policy, students may only be excused by a parent 16 days per school year (eight per semester). Medical excuses are required for any absences that exceed 16 days in a school year.

Additionally, any absence not excused within three days will be considered unexcused. Multiple unexcused absences are considered to be unlawful and may result in legal consequences.

***

Take advantage of WCSD’s text messaging service — the district uses the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to your mobile phones with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more. Parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in this free service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to the school’s short code number, 67587. You can opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying “Stop.”

It is recommended you save this code and caller ID to your contacts. This prevents any third-party call blocking systems from interfering with important messages sent by the school or district.

SchoolMessenger is compliant with the student privacy pledge, so be assured your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.

Lehigh Carbon Community College’s young drivers program is available and is a noncredit class. LCCC’s Schnecksville campus offers a 10-hour driver training program for students ages 15 and up that combines interactive classroom instruction with immersive behind-the-wheel simulation training to equip learners with the essential skills necessary for lifelong safe driving habits.
