Thomas B. Black

of Macungie

Thomas B. Black, 79, of Macungie, died Sept. 25, 2025. He was the loving husband of Carol A. (Haasis) Black to whom he was married 57 years. Born in Roxborough, Philadelphia, he was the eldest son of the late Matthew T. and Marie E. (Kling) Black.

He retired in 2006 after 40 years in the bank industry. During his last 15 years, he worked as a regional president for both Mellon and Citizens Banks. He was a graduate of Roxborough High School, a 1967 graduate of the Philadelphia Community College and a 1969 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. He also graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Banking, and the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Christine M. Sylvester, of Langhorne, Karen E. (Nick), of Phoenix, Ariz., Carolyn, of Plains; grandchildren, Emily Mae Sylvester, Evan Thomas Sylvester, Avery Elizabeth; siblings, William A., of Naples, Fla. (who died Sept. 26), Michael K. (Gerry, of Mechanicsburg, Linda J. Lukens (John), of Plymouth Meeting.
