Roberta F. Haberern
Roberta F. Haberern, 94, died Sept. 22, 2025, at the United Zion Retirement Home, Lititz. She was the wife of the late William S. Haberern of Whitehall.
Born in Bath, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Pearl (Leigh) Scheffler.
She received her undergraduate degree from Ursinus College in 1953 and a master’s degree in 1980 from Kutztown State College.
She began her teaching career at Oley Valley High School, teaching English, German and Latin. She went on to teach English at Northampton. Most of her career was as a Title 1 reading teacher, as well as a German teacher for Whitehall-Coplay School District, bringing the joy of reading and foreign language to many students.
She was a member at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fullerton.
She sang soprano in choirs at the church and at both Luther Crest and the United Zion Home.
She hosted groups to Germany and brought Germans to the U.S. through the Pastorius Haus Association.
She is survived by two sons, Keith and wife Karen of Collingswood, N.J., and Kent and wife Lisa of Lititz; nine grandchildren, Zachary Stone, Dana, Lorena, Kayla ALawama and husband Ahmad, Sarah, Jesse, Allegra, Alyssa and Shayna; a great-granddaughter, Tarzanna, with one on the way; and a son-in-law, Dick Stone.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Kim Stone of Beverly, Mass.; and two brothers, Gerald and Donald Scheffler.
There will be a calling time 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service 11 a.m., Oct. 18 at the church, 575 Grape St., Whitehall, 18052.
