Homecoming parade and football game Oct. 10

It’s time for Homecoming! The Salisbury High School Homecoming parade will be held Oct. 10. The parade will begin at Salisbury Elementary School 5:15 p.m. and make its way to end at SHS. This is always a fun event just before the homecoming game. Join your neighbors to support the SHS football team for the homecoming game this year. Admission is free.

SHS is holding a blood drive with Keystone Memorial 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11. Students must be 16 years of age, have a parent permission slip completed and have a photo ID. Students can make appointments with Mrs. Basile or via giveapint.org. There are also QR codes in the community newsletter to make an appointment. Students who donate four times during their high school career will be given a red cord for graduation in recognition for their generosity.

There will be a Coffee and Conversation 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Salisbury Township School District Administration Building.

At this event, you can meet with the Salisbury Township School District Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten, Township Manager Cathy Gorman and Chief of Police Don Sabo to answer questions, hear concerns and take ideas back to the respective boards. Come share your voices.

The first professional development day of the school year will be held Oct. 13. There will be no school on this day for Salisbury Township School District students.

Our SHS Theatre is hard at work for the upcoming production of “Harvey.” Mark your calendars for Nov. 6-9 and make sure to come out to support these students. Showtimes and tickets will be available as the opening night gets closer.

The next operations and finance committee meeting for the school district will be 7 p.m. Oct. 8 and the next school board meeting will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 15, both at the administration building. The public is encouraged to attend and speak at these public meetings.

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, will host an afternoon of bingo 2 p.m. Oct. 19. Doors open 1 p.m. For more information, call Louise at 610-866-1611.

Mark your calendar for two other events at Jerusalem church – a basket social 6 p.m. Nov. 7 and another bingo 2 p.m. Nov. 16.

Lehigh Valley Health Network will offer free drive-thru flu shot clinics again this year. You can get a flu shot at the Hecktown Oaks campus 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Integrated Health Campus in Allentown. Food donations will be accepted at both locations for distribution to local food banks. For more information, visit lvhn.org/flushot.

The township recycling drop off sites are open for a few more weekends. The Franko Farm site will open Oct. 9 and 11 and the Devonshire site will be open Oct. 13, 16 and 18. Drop off center hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
