Oct. 8
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Oct. 22. The distributions are now offered the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. Please note the church will no longer host a weekly food pantry. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted with directions about where to park and which door to use to pick up food.
Oct. 10
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. A drive-thru option is no longer offered. Come inside to pick up a take-out meal if you choose not to dine in. The meal is chili with various toppings, saltine crackers, coleslaw and dessert. Oct. 11
Barktoberfest Pet Fair will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie. There will be a pet blessing service 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo. There will be training demos, a dog agility course, dog and cat rescues, vendors, pet groomers and sitters, food trucks and more.
The Macungie Halloween Parade will start 7 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 12. Visit the website www.macungiehalloweenparade.com for details.
St. Mark’s UCC, 52 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown, will host its annual Bazaar and Basket Social 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include an outdoor flea market (weather permitting); homemade food, including pierogies and baked goods available for purchase to eat in or take to go; an attic treasure room, Christmas decorations room and gently used clothing room. All remaining clothing will go to the Allentown Rescue Mission (mens) and the Sixth Street Shelter (womens). Plus, there will be several dozen baskets with gift cards for gas, groceries, local restaurants and so much more. Call the church office at 610-797-0181 with questions about the event.
Oct. 13
Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville, will host a chicken barbecue fundraiser 3-6 p.m. The menu includes a half chicken, baked potato and applesauce. The meal is takeout only. Visit the fire company website for details, contact information and ways to order.
Oct. 15
The Vera Cruz Community Association will host the annual Vera Cruz Halloween parade 7 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 16. All are invited to participate in the parade, which will feature floats, groups and organizations and individual marchers/walkers. Parade participants will gather at Mystic Chain Park, 3718 Main Road East, Emmaus, 6:30 p.m. to line up. The Salisbury Township community is invited to meet with local officials for coffee and conversation 10 a.m. at the Salisbury Township School District administration building. Salisbury Township School District Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten, Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Gorman and Salisbury Township Chief of Police Don Sabo will be on hand to meet with community members.
The Emmaus Historical Society invites you to enjoy a look back in time at the October program, “Hess’s Department Store: An Icon of the Past” presented by the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum. This program brings to life the legacy of one of the region’s most iconic landmarks. It will offer a heartfelt tribute to a place that helped define the spirit of downtown Allentown. The program will be held 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Chestnut Street in Emmaus.

Fall craft and vendor sale at Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C., 235 E. Penn Ave., Alburtis, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale includes crafts, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, baked goods and vendors. Refreshments and lunch will be available.
Forks of the Delaware Bottle Collectors Association will hold its annual bottle and antique show and sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 N. Poplar St., Macungie.
