Yartymyk, Hornet boys soccer shut out first 3 foes
The Emmaus High School boys soccer team started off the regular season just the way it had hoped to, winning every game that it has played thus far, without allowing a goal.
The won back-to-back road games to open the year, the first one in nonconference action, and then won its home opener for their second straight Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.
Emmaus began the season with a 2-0 win at Cumberland Valley, which was ranked No. 10 in the state, on Friday, August 22. The Hornets then took down Whitehall in the conference opener 6-0 last Tuesday, August 26. They completed their third consecutive shutout win as they blanked Allen 3-0 last Thursday night at Memorial Field.
In the win over the Bald Eagles, Emmaus scored a goal in each half as Aleksander Przbylski recorded the season’s first goal for his team in the first half and then Canyon Reinhardt found the back of the net in the second half to double up the score.
Reinhardt also contributed an assist on the opening goal, while Anthony Suida assisted his goal. Gavin Yartymyk finished with five saves in net. The Hornets had a 9-5 advantage in shots, but were outshot 5-4 in shots on goal.
The Emmaus attack got things rolling early and often versus the Zephyrs, scoring four first half goals, tacking on two more in the second half. Brennan Stack, Shaw Cook, Austen Breisch, Suida, Maseyn Muthard and Gabriel Reyes each tallied a goal, while Reinhardt totaled two assists and Stack, Breisch and Noah Tintle added one. Will Peck made three saves in net for the win.
In the victory against the Canaries, the Hornets led 1-0 at halftime before doubling their total with two second-half goals. Reinhardt, Suida and Tintle had the goals and Reinhardt and Reyes each contributed an assist. Yartymyk finished with four saves. Emmaus outshot Allen 22-5.
Emmaus, which is 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference, hits the road for a conference game at Pocono Mountain East on Wednesday afternoon and then hosts Central Catholic Friday afternoon. The Hornets then head north once again and are at Pocono Mountain West Monday afternoon.
