The Parkland High School boys soccer team had a strong start to the season in week one and the Trojans kept it going the following week with three straight wins, all coming in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Last Wednesday, the Trojans defeated East Stroudsburg South 4-1 at home and then traveled to Stroudsburg Saturday afternoon and won 4-0. Two days later, Parkland took down Pleasant Valley 3-0 at home.
In the win over the Cavaliers, Parkland (5-0 overall; 5-0 EPC) put the game out of reach early by scoring three goals in the first half and then added another in the second half. There were four different goal scorers for the Trojans as Ryan Bender, Kerem Adali, Anthony Bautista Yucra and Ethan Frey each found the back of the net. Alex Hurwitz and Talmage Pollard both had an assist. Andrew Staples and Matt Feiler both finished with a save in net. Parkland had 15 shots compared to three for ESS and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
In the victory against the Mountaineers, Hurwitz led the way with a hat trick. Lincoln Fritz rounded out the scoring with a goal and added an assist. Julian Park also dished out an assist. Trojans goalies were not forced into action.
In the game with the Bears, there were three different goal scorers that each had a goal, including Fritz, Hurwitz and Pollard, with Fritz and Hurwitz each adding an assist. Staples finished with four saves. Parkland held a 4-1 edge in corners.
