PHS girls soccer wins first five matches of ‘25 season

The Parkland High School girls soccer team began the regular season with two straight wins in week one and they continued that win streak onto the next week as the Trojans won three games in-a-row week two, all in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

Last Wednesday afternoon, Parkland (5-0 overall; 5-0 EPC) defeated East Stroudsburg South 3-0 and beat Stroudsburg 6-1 Friday afternoon. The Trojans won a road game at Pleasant Valley Monday night, 3-0.

In the win over the Cavaliers, Parkland scored two goals in the first half and added the third in the second half. Isabella Hallal led the offense with two goals and Kennedy Perkins rounded out the scoring with one goal.

Hanna Hertzog was not forced into action, but Keira Shearer made one save in net. Parkland finished with 17 shots and five corner kicks, while East Stroudsburg South had one each.

In the victory against the Mountaineers, the Trojans took control of the game early as they scored five goals in the opening half and added the sixth in the second half.

Hallal once again led the offense, finishing with a hat trick. Mackenzie McNeely, Sarah Huff and Katie Sammarco each found the back of the net once.

Parkland had a 12-3 advantage in shots and 8-3 in corners.

In the shutout over the Bears, Sarai Wellington tallied two goals, one in each half, and McNeely recorded one in the second half.

Huff and Avery Maier both contributed an assist. Hertzog finished with five saves in net. Parkland had a 28-5 edge in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks.
