Parkland girls tennis remains unbeaten in EPC

With the high school girls tennis schedule in the final weeks of the regular season, Parkland is one of four East Penn Conference teams that have not lost a league match this season.

The Trojans are 9-1 overall and 9-0 in East Penn Conference matches with upcoming matches against all of the league’s top teams.

The Trojans will face Central Catholic (10-0) this week and have Nazareth (10-0) next week with Emmaus (10-0) as their final match of the regular season on Sept. 22. In between are a few other matches against teams Parkland can’t look past if the Trojans hope to stay unbeaten.

In recent matches, Parkland beat Whitehall 6-1 and shut out East Stroudsburg South 7-0.

Against he Zephyrs on Saturday, Sept. 6, Parkland got a forfeit win at No. 1 singles before Sadie Pollard (6-0, 6-0) and Sonia Lee (6-0, 6-1) won the other two singles matches.

In doubles play, Kiana Miles and Yihan Li won the No. 2 match 6-1, 6-0. Kate Gilchrist and Hannah Schmoyer won the No. 3 doubles match 6-2, 6-2. Ariana Tahir and Syrien Alvin won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. Hannah Fries and Mythri Kottala won the alternate doubles match 7-5, 6-3.

In a dominant win over the Cavaliers, Lexie Warsing rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Pollard (6-0, 6-1) and (6-0, 6-0) Lee took the second and third singles matches.

The Trojans top three doubles teams all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores with Miles/Li, Gilchrist/Schmoyer and Tahir/Alvin winning without surrendering a single game. In the alternate doubles match, Melody Shen and Punarvi Channamsetti won 6-1, 6-0.
