Hornets notch two 10-0 wins

The Emmaus High School boys soccer team played two games last week and came out on top of both with 10-0 victories in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference competition.

The Hornets defeated Pocono Mountain West 10-0 last Monday and then followed that two days later with a 10-0 shutout win over Dieruff.

In the victory against the Panthers, eight different Emmaus players found the back of the net, including two goals by both Shaw Cook and Andy Manz. Canyon Reinhardt, Anthony Suida, Gabriel Reyes, Noah Tintle, Frank Colosimo and Conner Powell all added one goal. Robbie Tumblin finished with a team-high three assists, Logan Armstrong recorded two helpers and Manz, Caleb Brown, Reyes and Cook all added one. Goalie Will Peck finished with one save in net. Emmaus outshot PMW 18-1 and held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.

In the win over the Huskies, the Hornets held a 3-0 halftime lead before scoring seven goals in the second half. Reinhardt led the offense with four goals and Powell tallied two. Reyes, Cook, Austen Breisch and Colosimo found the back of the net once. Gavin Yartymyk was not forced into action in his net as the Emmaus defense did not allow a single shot, recording 18 on its offensive end. The Hornets also had eight corner kicks to the Huskies zero.

Emmaus, which improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference, has a busier week this week with four conference games in a span of six days.
