LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Girls volleyball starts season 5-1

While rain wiped out all of the outdoor sports last Thursday, the Northwestern Lehigh girls volleyball team was safe and warm inside the Northwestern gym.

The team followed up their straight set win over Notre Dame (Green Pond) two days earlier with another sweep, this time against Lehighton.

Northwestern won by scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-22 against the Indians (0-4 Colonial, 2-5 overall) to up its Colonial League record to 5-1 on the season both in league play and overall matches. Juniors Daisy Stringer and Anna Ebeling led the team with four kills in the match with senior Alex Diehl and sophomore Lacy Clymer both contributing three kills. Clymer also contributed with her serving skills by getting two aces and having no errors on her five total serves.

In addition to the contributions from Clymer, sophomore Kayla Schaffer led the team in serve attempts with 13 and committed just one service error in the match. Schaffer also led the team in digs (12) and assists (17).

Northwestern has just one match this week against Palmerton (1-3, 1-5).
