Falcon XC teams top NL

The Salisbury cross country teams have competed in three meets so far this season, with the boys team posting a 3-7 record and the girls team going 2-8 to start the season.

In a multi-team Colonial League meet last Thursday, the Salisbury boys team went 2-2 with wins over Jim Thorpe (15-50) and Northern Lehigh (15-50) and losses against Lehighton (18-44) and Palmerton (16-47). The Falcon girls team beat Northern Lehigh (15-50) and Lehighton (15-50), but fell to Jim Thorpe (23-32) and Palmerton (17-38).

Lydia Fogel led Salisbury with a 24th-place finish in the girls race, while teammates Shelby Tenzer (35th), Soledad Lausch (40th), Samantha Conrad (43rd) and Annabella Tavares (49th).

In the boys race, Emerson Juhasz led the Falcons with a 19th-place finish. Kaiden Conrad (64th), Isaac Mokua (74th), Dean Cachia (75th) and Rafael Carpo (81st) rounded out the Salisbury team scores. Riley Nemitz (82nd) also competed in the meet for the Falcons.

Northwestern’s Rosie Nestor and Southern Lehigh’s Miles Etters won the girls and boys races at the meet.

The Falcons opened their season on Aug. 27 with a multi-team Colonial League meet at Saucon Valley. The Falcon teams both went 0-3 in the opener, unable to earn a team score with just four runners in the line up.

Fogel finished 28th to lead the Salisbury girls team, followed by teammates Tenzer (51st), Lausch (52nd) and Tavarez (60th). Juhasz was 32nd in the boys race, while fellow Falcons Mojua (73rd), Cachia (77th), Carpo (95th) and Nemitz (98th) made up Salisbury’s team score.

In a meet Sept. 3 at Catasauqua, the Falcons boys team went 1-2, while the girls team was 0-3 at the meet.

Fogel finished a season-best 18th in a field that included runners from some of the league’s top teams in Northwestern Lehigh, Southern Lehigh an Wilson. Tenzer (34th), Lausch (41st) and Samantha Conrad (46th) also competed for the Salisbury girls team, which was one runners short of being able to score as a team at the meet.

Juhasz led the way for Salisbury in the boys race with a 40th-place finish. Mokua (59th), Kaiden Conrad (64th), Cachia (67th) and Nemitz (75th) rounded out the Falcons’ top five, with Carpo (77th) close behind.
