Emmaus girls soccer beats Kids, Panthers

The Emmaus High School girls soccer team has had a successful September so far.

Following their lone defeat of the regular season so far in late August, the Hornets have answered with an undefeated September so far and won three Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games last week to stay perfect in the conference.

Emmaus opened the week with back-to-back 9-0 victories, the first one at home against Pocono Mountain West on Monday and the next one was at Dieruff on Wednesday.

The Hornets closed out the week with a 4-1 victory over Northampton at Memorial Field in a rematch of last season’s District 11 4A championship game, won by the Kids.

In the victory over the Panthers, Giuliana Meyer led the offense with two goals to highlight a group of eight different scorers. Erynn Stephens, Brynn Campbell, Alanta Bogert, Celeste Peralta, Andrea Dolcemascole, Kyana Deabreu and Sofia Isaksson each found the back of the net once. Lizzy Bender contributed a team-best three assists, Meyer added two and each of Isaksson, Scharper, Dolcemascole and Amelia Lower all had one. Olivia Haberl finished with one save in net.

In the win against the Huskies, Blair Stephens tallied two goals to lead the offense. Bender, Isaksson, Sophia Shutkufski, Meyer, Erynn Stephens, Dolcemascolo and Campbell all recorded a goal. Bender also contributed three assists, while Autumn Scheuermann totaled two and Meyer and Scharper each had one. Haberl and Sadie Wallace both made two saves in net.

Against the Kids, Emmaus found itself behind 1-0 in the first half, but then scored four unanswered before halftime and held Northampton scoreless the rest of the way. Meyer netted the first one on an assist by Shutkufski. Isaksson tallied the second goal on an assist from Bender, who then recorded the third goal, with Peralta grabbing the last goal with an assist by Hannah Berk.

Emmaus, which improved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference, has three more conference matchups this week as the midway point of the 2025 season approaches.
