The Emmaus High School girls volleyball team has had a fast start to the 2025 regular season, winning its first three matches via sweeps, one in nonconference action to begin the season and the next two in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.
In the opener at Emmaus last Monday, Aug. 25, the Hornets defeated Hazleton by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-18. The next night, they went on the road and took down Whitehall 25-21, 25-19 and 25-15. Last Thursday night, Emmaus beat Allen 25-14, 25-14 and 25-13.
In the win over the Cougars, Maleya Hinds and Amanda Rivera each finished with five kills on the attack with Hinds adding two service aces. Alyssa Heffner did a little bit of it all as she tallied 23 assists, 14 digs and three aces.
In the victory against the Zephyrs, Rivera led the offensive effort with 12 kills and contributed eight digs defensively. Hinds recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs, while Andraya Flowers had six kills and two blocks. Heffner dished out 31 assists.
In the match with the Canaries, both Flowers and Hinds finished with six kills, with Flowers adding two aces. Rivera netted five kills and Hoppes contributed a team-high five aces.
This week, the Green Hornets have two road conference matchups. First, at Northampton on Wednesday and then Friday at Dieruff. They will finish out the week at the Easton High School tournament.
