SHS names Student of the Week

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My father Scott Evans, my mother: Tammy Evans and my dog (German Shepherd) Skye.

Q. As a senior, do you have any specific goals you will pursue this academic year?

A. My primary goal this year is to maintain good grades in order to be eligible for valuable scholarships.

Q. What is your favorite class at Salisbury High School? Why?

A. I enjoy the biology courses. I had biology in my first year and I am taking AP Biology in my senior year. The content is heavy, but it is interesting to see how things work at the cellular level. It also relates to what I would like to do in the future.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am a National Honor Society member. I am also the vice president of Key Club this year and one of the captains of the girls soccer team.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am a part of the girls soccer team. It has led me to meet many new people and has created a community that we can go to for anything. I am also involved in National Honor Society and Key Club.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge is time management, especially at the beginning of the year. I take challenging courses, play soccer for the school and have a job. It has been difficult finding a way to balance everything, but I make it work.

Q. At this time, what are your plans for the future beyond high school?

A. I plan on going to college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in forensic science (chemistry). I may also minor in biology.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. I would like to spend an evening conversing with Edgar Allan Poe. He contributed heavily to the horror genre, which has influenced the way a lot of related media is made today. Horror is one of my favorite genres, so it would be interesting to talk about who inspired him in the way he writes and what inspired the content of his writings.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my personality and the way I made people feel. I try to be inclusive and have a positive attitude that others can enjoy.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Times may get difficult, but if you build a good support system, whether it be friends or family, difficulties can go by much more easily. Remember, it will get better.
