Man with gun surrenders to state police in Upper Milford Township

State troopers were called to Jasper Road, Upper Milford Township, Sept. 18 after a man reportedly had a gun in a residence there, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The incident ended in the man’s surrender to state police.

No one was hurt.

Troopers from the Fogelsville station were called to the 4900 block of Jasper Road at approximately 8:44 p.m., according to a news release dated Sept. 19.

The incident was detailed as follows:

“Upon arrival, it was determined a 38-year-old male, having a mental health crisis, was holding a gun in the residence and troopers established a perimeter outside the house.”

Jasper Road was closed to traffic at Shimerville Road and Main Road West, according to authorities.

“The PSP Special Emergency Response Team arrived at the scene and was able to have the male exit the residence and peacefully surrender,” according to the news release.

The man was taken to the hospital.

Other responding agencies included Emmaus Police Department, Macungie Police Department, Upper Macungie Township Police Department and the Upper Milford Township Fire Department.
