Oct. 2

The Emmaus Public Library will host its annual Community Heroes Day 6-7:30 p.m. in the library parking lot at 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Visitors will meet first responders, try on firefighter gear and tour police, fire and ambulance vehicles. The event is free and open to all ages. The rain date is Oct. 16.

Oct. 4

A Crazy About Quilting Celebration, presented by the Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild, is being held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 Tilghman St., Allentown. The celebration includes a display of 100+ quilts and quilted items, the sale of handmade quilted articles and recycled “stash” items and quilting demonstrations. Details at crazyquilters.org.

The Autumn Mineralfest is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 Poplar St., Macungie. The event will be held rain or shine. There will be dealers and displays of minerals, fossils, gems, crystals and more as well as lessons in panning for gold and sluicing. Visit the website www.mineralfest.com for details.

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will host its free Apple Harvest Festival 1-4 p.m. Visitors will enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, apple pie, ice cream and drinks as well as free games and prizes for children, face painting and cake walk. Oct. 7

The Emmaus Garden Club will present a floral design workshop featuring Holly Kirkland Clouser, an artist and floral designer who teaches floral design in the continuing education department at Longwood Gardens, noon at Bethel Bible Fellowship Church, 418 Elm St., Emmaus. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

Oct. 8

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Also Oct. 22. The distributions are now offered the second and fourth Wednesdays. Please note the church will no longer hold a weekly food cupboard. Recipients must reside in the East Penn School District. Signs will be posted to direct you where to park and which door to use to pick up your food.

Oct. 10

Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., Macungie, will hold a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. A drive through option is no longer offered. Come inside to pick up a take-out meal if you choose not to dine in. The meal is chili with various toppings, saltines, coleslaw and dessert. For more info., call church office at 610-966-3325.

Oct. 11

The Macungie Halloween Parade will start 7 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 12. Visit the website www.macungiehalloweenparade.com for details.

St. Mark’s UCC, 52 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown, will host its annual Bazaar and Basket Social 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlights include an outdoor flea market (weather permitting); homemade food, including pierogies and baked goods available for purchase to eat-in or to go; an attic treasure room, Christmas decorations room and gently used clothing room. All remaining clothing will go to the Allentown Rescue Mission and the Sixth Street Shelter). Oct. 13

Upper Milford Western District Fire Company, 6341 Chestnut St., Zionsville, will host a chicken barbecue fundraiser 3-6 p.m. The menu includes a half chicken, baked potato and applesauce. The meal is takeout only. Visit the fire company website for details, contact information and ways to order.

Oct. 15

The Vera Cruz Community Association will host the Vera Cruz Halloween parade 7 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 16. All are invited to participate in the parade, which will feature floats, groups and organizations and individual marchers/walkers. Parade participants will gather at Mystic Chain Park, 3718 Main Road East, Upper Milford Township, 6:30 p.m. to line up. Oct. 18

Fall craft and vendor sale at Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, 235 E. Penn Ave., Alburtis, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale includes crafts, attic treasures, a gift basket auction, baked goods and vendors. Refreshments and lunch will be available.

Oct. 19

The Greater Allentown CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled 1:30 p.m. St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 140 S. Ott St., Allentown. Registration begins 1 p.m. The event is an intergenerational fellowship and community service opportunity for individuals, families, youth groups, adult groups, businesses, organizations, and congregations. Oct. 23

The Woman’s Club of Emmaus will host its fall 2025 dessert card party 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. The event helps support the club’s scholarship program. The Emmaus Borough / Upper Milford Township Joint Environmental Advisory Council will host a bulb and seed swap 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Emmaus Public Library, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Participants who wish to may bring extra bulbs from their garden to share and swap with others and are welcome to include a photo of the plants so others can see what the plants look like when in bloom. Gardeners of all skill levels are encouraged to attend and bring questions and share knowledge. Organizers will have bags available for participants to take home their new bulb and seed acquisitions.
