Coffee and conversation Oct. 15

Fall is in full swing and with it comes cooler weather, Homecoming festivities and a full slate of community activities.

The Salisbury High School Homecoming Parade will be held Oct. 10 before the game against the Palmerton Blue Bombers. Come out and enjoy the parade and cheer the Falcons on to victory!

A Homecoming dance will be held 7-10 p.m. Oct. 11 in the SHS auxiliary gym. This year’s theme will be “Under the Lanterns.”

Oct. 3 will be the next T-shirt day at Salisbury Elementary School.

Mark your calendars for the SES PTO Color Run which will take place 3-5 p.m. Oct. 4. This family friendly event helps raise funds to support the school community and the two classrooms raising the most money are invited to “Color Blast the Principals.” Online registrations must be completed by Oct. 1.

Oct. 2 is Community Heroes Day at the Emmaus Public Library. This fun family event offers an opportunity to talk to first responders about their jobs, try on firefighter gear or sit behind the wheel of a hook and ladder truck. The event is located in the parking lot at the library and runs 6-7:30 p.m. Come and meet our local heroes!

The next Home Depot Kids Workshop will take place Oct. 4 starting 9 a.m. The featured project for the month is a haunted candy box and you can register online at www.homedepot.com/c/kids-workshop.

The community is invited to meet with local officials for coffee and conversation providing an opportunity for residents to ask questions, voice concerns and share what matters most to you. The event will take place 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at the Salisbury Township School District administration building.

Superintendent Lynn Fuini-Hetten, Township Manager Cathy Gorman and Chief of Police Don Sabo will be on hand to listen, discuss and take your concerns to their respective boards in an effort to guide decisions that affect the community.

The township recycling drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open Oct. 2 and 4 and the Franko Farm site will be open Oct. 6, 9 and 11. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
