Fullerton: St. John’s plans Oct. 3 family fun night

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., invites preschool through fifth-grade children and their families to Friday fun night 6-8 p.m. Oct. 3. The evening will include supper, crafts, games, music and story telling.

Come out for both friendship and fun.

The men’s breakfast group of St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold its next gathering 8:30 a.m. Oct. 4 at Hamilton Family Restaurant, 2027 Hamilton St., Allentown.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will be having a blessing of the animals in honor of St. Frances 2 p.m. Oct. 12 in the fellowship hall. The church invites everyone, but especially animals lovers, to come for a brief worship, a chance for every pet and pet owner to receive a blessing and time and supplies to make simple pet toys for dogs and cats.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will celebrate Harvest Home during Sunday worship 9:30 a.m. Oct. 12, followed by food and conversation in the fellowship hall.

Offerings of nonperishable food items will be received for Whitehall Food Pantry. Donations of canned and dried potatoes are appreciated, especially since Second Harvest Food Bank, an important supplier for the food pantry, has been hurt by governmental funding cuts.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., will be hosting the 16th annual basket social, planned for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 10, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 11 and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 12.

There will be fabulous baskets and gift cards valued at $35 or more, plus several big-ticket items of gift cards, services, items and prizes worth more than $75. Four lucky prizes will have a $50 cash bonus tucked away inside.

Preordered food will be available for pickup all weekend, and limited food items will be available for purchase all weekend.

You can buy your tickets after all Masses Oct. 4 and 5 to get your free bonus tickets. You can also purchase tickets at the parish office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., or mail your request to the church, attn: Mary Spieker, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, 18052.
