Edward R. Spitzer, 90, of Northampton, died Sept. 25, 2025, at home. He was the husband of Margarete B. (Asmus) Spitzer for 60 years.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Gratzel) Spitzer.

He served his country in the U.S. Army.

After his honorable discharge, he pursued higher education and earned a bachelor’s degree.

He went on to build a career with the U.S. government, working in the real estate division as an interstate branch manager.

He was an active member of Coplay Saengerbund and Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Stephen; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred, John and Joseph.

There will be a calling time 11-11:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial noon, Oct. 3 at Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton.
