Coplay: Honey Buzzards to perform Oct. 3 at Saengerbund

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its summer concerts. The lineup for Friday night concerts is Honey Buzzards Oct. 3, New Normal Oct. 10, Hunkajunk Oct. 17, Rickey and the Rebels Oct. 24 and Common Bond Oct. 31.

The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.

The Honey Buzzards concert is the annual fundraiser, and the Common Bond performance is the Halloween party. Both are open to the public.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., is hosting a cash bingo Oct. 5, sponsored by Whitehall Lions Club. Doors open 1 p.m., and calling begins 2 p.m.

Proceeds benefit Coplay Food Pantry, Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative and Whitehall Food Pantry at St. Stephen’s.

There is a cost, which includes two boards. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Bring a food item, such as tuna fish, cereal, instant oatmeal, pancake mix or soup, for the pantries.

Coplay Saengerbund is planning a college football tailgate event for Oct. 11. The doors open 10 a.m.

The price includes keg beer and tailgate food. College football games will be streaming, and there will be tailgate games and a 50/50 raffle.

Coplay Saengerbund’s heritage committee will present its annual Weinlesefest (grape dance) 3-6 p.m. Oct. 12.

There will be special wine selections, food, a wine-themed sing-along, special dances and door prizes. Emil Schanta Band will entertain. Wear your German outfits, such as lederhosen, hats, vests and dirndl.

Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association’s Halloween parade is set for Oct. 21, beginning around 7 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is planning to hold a baked ziti pickup dinner Oct. 25. The drive-thru pickup window is 4-5:30 p.m. at the church, 18 S. Third St.

The menu includes baked ziti, salad, applesauce, roll and dessert.

Freewill donations are gratefully accepted to defray costs and aid the church’s mission of helping others.

Coplay Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The club meets the last Thursday of the month.

Trick or treat in Coplay is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

St. John’s Lutheran Church is taking orders for its potato filling sale. There is a cost for either a 2-pound pan or a 13-by-9-inch pan.

Pickup will be noon-2 p.m. Nov. 22 at the church.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Coplay aerobics classes are held 8:45 a.m. Saturdays and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the borough hall auditorium. Bring dumbbells, a towel and a mat to enhance your workout.

There is a small cost by donation.
