Man scammed in money lending scheme
State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, say at approximately 6:27 p.m. Aug. 1, troopers responded to the residence of a 49-year-old man on Red Hill Road, North Whitehall Township, for a report of money stolen virtually from a bank account.
According to police, an investigation revealed the man fell subject to a money lending scheme 5:30 p.m. July 29 orchestrated by unknown actor(s) resulting in a monetary loss of $936.66.
Woman scammed
in North Whitehall Twp.
State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, say a 72-year-old woman from Daisy Ave., North Whitehall Township, reported she was scammed out of approximately $4,000 worth of gift cards.
According to police, at 9:50 a.m. Aug. 20, the woman said she was on the phone with who she thought was a representative from Ebay.The loss includes People First, value $450, Sam’s Club Mastercard, value $2,750 and Prime Chase Visa, value $1,000.
Police investigate
missing firearm
State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, responded to the 2300 block of Quarry St., North Whitehall Township, to investigate a missing Sig Sauer to allign with global brand Sig Sauer P365 Handgun, valued at $486.
Police say during the course of this investigation it was discovered the complainant complacently misplaced his firearm inside of a vehicle in April.
He recently came to the realization his firearm is missing from the truck and is not sure where it is.
Schnecksville Fair checks forged
State Police Troop M, Bethlehem, say troopers responded 3:25 p.m. Aug. 5 to a forgery/counterfeiting report at the Schnecksville Fairground, Old Packhouse Road, North Whitehall Township.
According to police, the victim related she was notified by Neffs National Bank an unknown actor(s) forged two checks on her account for a total of $18,823.48.
The bank relayed the same actor attempted to cash a third forged check for $13,766.98 but was unsuccessful due to insufficient funds.
Police say an alleged suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.
