Zephyr Roundup Cross Country begins dual season
Contributed - The Whitehall Zephyrs started their dual meet cross country season, 3-0, beating Pleasant Valley, Pocono Mountain East, and Pocono Mountain West on Sept. 9 at Pleasant Valley.
The boys were led by seniors Habib Leyos and Daniel Tran, juniors Kihan Resto and Sebastian Zaiter, and freshmen AJ Marakovits, Ben Charles, and Gabe Unangst. Girls were led by juniors Isabelle Daigle, Emma Druckenmiller, Julia Elsiefy, sophomore Holly Kotch, and seniors Emma Sargent, Felicity Coulthard, and Janelle Kies.
Boys team scores were 25-36 over Pocono Mountain East, 27-30 over Pocono Mountain West, and 15-50 over Pleasant Valley.
Girls team scores were 15-50 over Pocono Mountain East, 19-40 over Pocono Mountain West, and 24-35 over Pleasant Valley.

In girls soccer, Whitehall defeated Pleasant Valley 3-1.
The Zephs scored twice in the first half and once more in the second. Collene Sommers scored in the first half and also added a goal in the second half. The Zephs other goal scorer was not listed in the report.
The WHS girls dominated play with 22 shots to PV’s four. The Zephs also had seven corners to PV’s zero.

The Whitehall field hockey team dropped some recent games.
The team lost to Pocono Mountain East 1-0 as Lauren McLain scored the game’s only goal.
The girls also lost to Wilson 3-0 as Olivia Hampton, Carli Apgar and Madison King scored.
Liberty was a 6-1 winner as Ellis Corr scored four times for the Hurricanes.
Whitehall’s lone goal came from Josie Shultz and was assisted by Evelyn Hudak.
Most recently on Monday, the girls fell to Parkland 12-0.
Olivia Estaban had a huge games, scoring five times to help lead the way.
