If you are a fan of sweater weather, football games, apple picking and leaf peeping you’re in luck because fall is right around the corner! The autumnal equinox, which is the first day of fall, arrives 2:19 p.m. Sept. 22.
With the coming of fall, the Salisbury Township schools are abuzz with activity. Parents and students have had the opportunity to visit both the middle school and the elementary school open house events and the upcoming SHS open house will be held 6:45-9 p.m. Sept. 25.
A reminder to SHS students to dress your best and bring a smile Sept. 17 for picture day.
Sept. 19 will be T-shirt day at Salisbury Elementary School.
Mark your calendars for Oct. 4 for the SES PTO Color Run 3-5 p.m. The money raised from this event helps fund student field trips, enrichment activities, assemblies, school T-shirts and the annual Ice Cream Festival. Registration is required by Oct. 1.
Did you know September is Library Card Sign-Up month? Library cards are free to all Salisbury residents with proof of residency at the Allentown Public Library. A library card gives you access to libraries close to home such as the Emmaus Public Library on the western side of the township or Bethlehem and Southern Lehigh libraries on the eastern side.
Card holders have access to 1.4 million items, free museum passes, engaging events for all ages and interests, free WiFi and computer access and a 24/7 digital library. Check it out!
Salisbury Township presents AM Radio Tribute Band in concert at Franko Park 1-4 p.m. Sept. 27. Bring a chair or blanket and your tambourine and get ready to enjoy a blast from the past as the band plays hits from the 60s and 70s. Come hungry as the Top of The Hill Grill food truck will be serving 1-4 p.m. and the So Cool Ice Cream Truck will arrive 2 p.m.
Salisbury High School invites school groups, teams, clubs, classes, performing arts groups, alumni, staff groups, community organizations, nonprofits, service organizations, civic groups, marching bands, cheer/dance groups, floats, vehicles, mascots and more to participate in the Salisbury Homecoming Parade Oct. 10.
This annual tradition is a celebration of school spirit, community pride and fun for all ages — and they’d love to see your organization represented. Groups will line up 4:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Salisbury Elementary School. A short registration form must be completed no later than Sept. 26.
Each group must provide at least one adult chaperone for every 10 students. Family-friendly music, decorations and performances are encouraged.
Staging instructions, safety reminders and lineup order will be sent after registration closes.
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your group, build school spirit and celebrate together as a community. Please spread the word and share contact information with anyone who may be interested in participating. The district looks forward to your participation and can’t wait to see you in the parade!

The township recycling drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open Sept. 18 and 20 and the Franko Farm site will be open Sept. 22, 25 and 27. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
