Karen E. Caiati

East Penn School teacher

Karen E. Caiati, 60, of Williams Township, died Sept. 11, 2025, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after a year’s battle with cancer. She and her husband Roberto Carlo Caiati shared 33 years of marriage.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of John and Carolyn (Purdy) Greiner, of Orchard Park, N.Y.

She was a graduate of Holland High School in New York, received an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and completed her master’s degree in education at SUNY Potsdam. Teaching was her life, which was evident in her more than 30 years of teaching third grade and commitment to education, beginning in Lowville, N.Y. and completing the remainder in the East Penn School District.

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown.

She also enjoyed gardening, creating memories scrapbooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was never found without a book as she loved to read.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by daughters, Ariana E., of Seattle, Wash. and Alyssa C., of Williams Township; twin sister, Sharon O’Connor, of Orchard Park, N.Y.; nieces, Ashley and Courtney O’Connor; beloved dog, Keva.

Viewings will be held 6-8 p.m. Sept. 19 and 10-11 a.m. Sept. 20 at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 Tilghman St., Allentown. The funeral service will follow 11 a.m. Sept. 20 in the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown.
