Bridge project ready for sewer line relocation, CWSA reports

During the Coplay Whitehall Sewer Authority meeting Aug. 21, General Manager Matt Harleman mentioned he received notification from the contractors on the Cementon-Northampton Bridge project that they will soon be ready to have the sewer line relocated. T&M is involved, and CWSA will be on top of inspecting the relocation.

It’s been a couple of years with no updates. Now, they are finally nearly ready to do the sewer relocation part of the project.

Harleman also said CWSA received a notice of termination earlier this month for the court case that was pertaining to the 72-inch storm sewer pipe collapse. This has been resolved in the court, and the document said the case is terminated.

Finally, Harleman spoke on the office generator project. The concrete contractor has the pads formed. The pads were expected to be poured soon after. Start-up was tentatively to be the second week in September as they drop the generator in after the two-week curing period.

Community Affairs Officer Joseph Marx informed the board that, for safety reasons, Water Street in Darktown will be closed at Eberhart Road. General accessibility will be from Lehigh Street in Hokendauqua. The only access allowed from Eberhart Road will be for vital utilities.

Chairman James Hahn mentioned an executive session was held to discuss litigation and personnel issues before the meeting.

The next CWSA meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the CWSA building, 3213 MacArthur Road.
