Macungie police

Simple assault

A 32-year-old male, of Macungie, was charged with simple assault, burglary and public intoxication after he allegedly broke into a residence and assaulted a homeowner and another person at a residence along West Main Street July 1, according to Macungie police.

DUI crash

A 56-year-old male, of Breinigsville, was charged with allegedly driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after a motor vehicle accident in which parked cars were struck in the 100 block of East Main Street July 30, according to Macungie police.

Attempted burglary

A 43-year-old male, of Macungie, was taken into custody for alleged attempted burglary, possession of methamphetamine and public intoxication after an incident in the 100 block of South Church Street July 11, according to Macungie police.

Drug possession

A 31-year-old male, of Allentown, allegedly had a small amount of marijuana at a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Main Street July 24, according to Macungie police.

Criminal mischief

A 20-year-old male, of Philadelphia, was charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly defaced dumpsters and walls with graffiti at the rear of retailer Dollar General, 155 W. Main St., July 15, according to Macungie Police.

Cruelty to animals

A 58-year-old female, of Macungie, was charged with three counts of alleged cruelty to animals and one count of cruelty to animals with injury after officers were dispatched for a distraught man who had a deceased dog in a vehicle in a parking lot at 178 Ridings Circle, according to Macungie police. An investigation found the dog was from the residence, which was found to be in a state of extreme hoarding. Borough officials later condemned the residence, according to authorities.
