Parkland graduate awarded $2,000 garden club scholarship

Parkland Garden Club recently awarded their $2,000 scholarship to John Emanuel, a 2025 graduate of Parkland High School.

Emanuel will attend Penn State University studying mechanical engineering.

“Mechanical engineers are paramount to agriculture, innovating more efficient engines for tractors and, therefore, saving farmers money in fuel and repairs,” he commented. “I want to change life on earth for the better and there is nothing more paramount than helping farmers grow our food.”

He is the son of Jason and Brenda Emanuel, of Laurys Station.

Sue Weber, scholarship chairman, presented the award.

The Parkland Garden Club meets 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.
