Macungie Band to host pork dinner, concert Sept. 6

The Macungie Band is excited to announce the fifth Barbecue and Beats Pulled Pork Dinner and Concert Sept. 6 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5130 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.

There is parking in the rear of the building, including handicap parking with no steps into the church’s Family Center.

Music and food service begin 4 p.m. so come early to choose your favorite table.

It’s the perfect summertime combination of a delicious meal of freshly roasted pulled pork on a Kaiser bun, cole slaw, baked beans, roasted potatoes, desserts and beverages, catered by Country View Meats of Danielsville and a great concert.

While you enjoy your meal, the band will entertain you with a great mix of musical styles.

Exciting marches attendees will hear include Caravan Club - Karl King (1891-1971), Chicago Tribune March is W. Paris Chambers’ (1854-1913) most popular march, Fairest of the Fair, a march written in 1908 by John Philip Sousa (1854-1932), The Huntress - This Karl King (1891-1971) gem was written during King’s days as a “trouper” with the circus, The Klaxon - The Klaxon was written for the 1934 Cincinnati Automobile Show by Henry Fillmore (1881-1956), Macungie Band Sesquicentennial March - This composition was commissioned by the band in tribute to the 150th anniversary of our founding in 1855 and The Walking Frog - Originally written as circus music for clown “walk abouts.”

Macungie Band’s associate director, Douglas Bolasky, who was director of the band from 1984 to 2009, will conduct this concert.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. There is a charge for tickets.

There are three ways to order tickets:

·Go to macungieband.com and scroll down to Barbecue and Beats. Click on the brown oval Info and Ticket Sales button. Click on the blue rectangle Buy Tickets button. Buy tickets here by Aug. 30.

·Send a check made payable to Macungie Band along with your order details, name and address to Macungie Band, P. O. Box 201, Macungie, 18062. Your order must be mailed by Aug. 22. Your tickets will be mailed to you.

·Contact any band member by Sept. 2. They will be happy to take your ticket order.
