Egypt/Cementon: VFW plans concerts

Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road, is hosting concerts.

The lineup features The Buzz Aug. 16, DNA Aug. 23 and Mike Sherer Sept. 4. These concerts begin 7 p.m.

Additionally, Third Hand Band is set to perform 2 p.m. Aug. 30.

There is a cost for guests and nonmembers.

Whitehall’s summer concert series concludes with Flirtin’ with the Mob Aug. 16 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St. The concert begins 6 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Learn to line dance with Whiskey Way Line Dancing at the VFW, set for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and Sept. 3 and 17. All levels of dancers are welcome.

There is a cover charge.

A torpedo dedication ceremony has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 22 at the VFW.

Dance fitness classes will continue 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Egypt Memorial Park, 4540 Hillcrest Lane. Bring water and dumbbells, if you have them.

There is a cost.

The Cement Belt Fair committee will host a community celebration day 6-9:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at Cementon Park, 5185 Dewey St. The event will feature food trucks, music by Flirtin’ with the Mob and fireworks.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Admission is free.

A blessing of the backpacks will occur during the 9 a.m. Aug. 31 service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt.

A blessing of the pets is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 7 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.

Sunday school classes at Shepherd of the Hills will resume 10:15 a.m. Sept. 7.

A benefit event including basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle and live music has been set for noon-5 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Egypt VFW. Proceeds will be used to purchase a custom, motorized wheelchair for former drummer James Wieder.

Shepherd of the Hills’ weekly Monday and Wednesday morning Bible study program resumes 10 a.m. Sept. 8.

Crafters have the opportunity to register to make a resin fall or beach scene at a class set for 3-5 p.m. Sept. 20 at the VFW. There is a cost.

Shepherd of the Hills’ annual Harvest Home service will take place Sept. 21. Parishioners are asked to bring nonperishable foods for donation to local food banks.
