Coplay: Saengerbund concerts continue

The Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its summer concert series.

The lineup for Friday night concerts will include American Street Band Aug. 15, Sons of Izzy Aug. 22 and Social Call Aug. 29.

The gates open 5 p.m., and the kitchen opens 5:30 p.m. Bands will play until 10 p.m.

The Wednesday acoustic concerts will be 6-9 p.m. The schedule will include Tim Harakal Aug. 27. The kitchen will be open.

Coplay’s Parkway Pool is open noon-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays until Aug. 17.

The Aqua Zumba classes are 5:45-6:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Wednesday night summer series at the Stephen J. Burker Memorial Gazebo, North Second and Chestnut streets, continues with Deal Duo Aug. 20, Steve Brosky Sept. 10 and the Castaways Sept. 24.

The concerts are held 6-9 p.m.

Coplay Community Days is scheduled for Aug. 22-24. The event, celebrating the local cement industry and the Saylor Kilns, will include food, drinks and musical entertainment.

The musical lineup includes the Aardvarks 7-10 p.m. Aug. 22, Steel Creek 12:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 23, Rock Steady 4-6 p.m. Aug. 23, Castaways 7-10 p.m. Aug. 23, Joe Kroboth noon-3 p.m. Aug. 24 and Brian Dean Moore Band 6-9 p.m. Aug. 24.

Classic Coplay aerobics is planning a fundraiser in honor of the late Donna DeLucia, the beloved aerobics instructor for 40 years. In her memory, all money raised at the aerobics event, set for 7-8 p.m. Sept. 22, will be donated to the American Association for Cancer Research. Aerobics is held at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

If you are unable to attend, you can support the effort by giving your donation at the borough office.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders — police officers, firefighters, and ambulance personnel — with a banner.

Public works Director Paul Boyle announced brush/branch pickup will continue through Sept. 26.

Call the borough office at 610-262-6088 to schedule pickups of sofas, mattresses (plastic encased), chairs, dressers or other large items. There is a limit of two per year at no charge.
