Catasauqua: Concert series continues

The borough summer concert series continues Aug. 15 with The Castaway Band performing 7-10 p.m. at the Catasauqua Park and Playground amphitheater, 501 American St. Bring lawn chairs or blankets, and settle in for a fun night in the park.

The Morning Glories of Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., will next meet 10 a.m. Aug. 18.

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., will host speakers 12:30 p.m. Aug. 19. Light refreshments will be offered.

Bob Hollinger will speak to the group about self-defense for senior citizens. He will inform attendees of ways to fight back or to have a plan of escape to a safe location if accosted.

Another speaker, Sara, will address the group about scams targeting seniors and how to recognize them. Today’s scams seem to happen on a daily basis.

Catty Seniors Plus will meet Aug. 27 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua. The doors open noon, and the meeting starts 1 p.m.

A representative from the attorney general’s office will speak about scams against senior citizens.

All are welcome. If you are a nonmember and wish to attend this meeting, call to reserve a seat, as seating will be limited.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church presents mystery dinner theater, featuring “The Golden Girls,” 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13.

The menu includes herb-roasted chicken breast, herb-roasted potatoes, salad, dessert and beverages.

Proceeds benefit the Lehigh Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
