Macungie Memorial Park needs volunteers

Macungie Memorial Park is a self-supporting park. They rely on volunteers to help with the pool, playground, grounds and repair maintenance and overhead expenses. Volunteers help bring all the great programs to the park every summer. To volunteer, call Macungie Park at 610-966-4289.
Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., will hold a free community meal 5-6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the fellowship hall. Takeout meals are also available. Call the church office at 610-966-3325 for the menu.
Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly free food distribution 2-4 p.m. Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27 for East Penn School District residents. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.
The Macungie Farmers Market is open 4-7 p.m. Thursdays on Lumber Street, just off Main Street, Macungie, throughout the summer.
Cruise Night will be 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at Macungie Memorial Park, 50 Poplar St. Vehicles will start arriving 2 p.m. and the DJ starts 4 p.m. Refreshments are available. For more information, call 610-966-4289.
The 49th Annual Collectors Car Show and Flea Market presented by the First Pennsylvania Mustang Club will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 17, rain or shine, at Macungie Memorial Park. All makes, models and years are welcome.
The Alburtis Seniors will meet noon Aug. 20 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis. There will be a potluck buffet lunch followed by a meeting and bingo. There is a small charge. Bring a covered dish. For more information, call Doris at 610-966-3653.
The 47th Annual Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree will be held Aug. 22-24 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event helps support local charities and the scholarship program for local automotive technology graduates. More than 1,500 custom cars and street rods from all over the East Coast will be on display.
The show opens 7 a.m. each day and continues until sundown. Donations of food items for local food banks will be accepted.
Macungie Pool is open. Weekday hours are noon to 8 p.m.; weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Toddler time is 11 a.m. to noon weekdays. Pool hours are 3-7 p.m. Aug. 25-28. The pool will close for the season Sept. 1. Pool visitors must park outside the park grounds during the Wheels of Time car show Aug. 22-25. Parking is available in the ball fields off Lehigh Street. Lower Lehigh AARP will not meet in August. Their next meeting will be noon Sept. 4 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall at Macungie Memorial Park. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.
The Macungie Institute offers free weekly Pinochle and Mahjong on Wednesdays in 2025. Pinochle is 10 a.m. to noon and Mahjong is 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Zumba with Rashida is offered 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays and 2-3 p.m. Tuesdays. For more information, go to www.macungieinstitute.com.
New members are welcome to join the Macungie Town Beautification Committee. The committee meets 6 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every other month at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St.

Macungie Borough Council holds in-person public meetings at the Macungie Institute. The next meetings will be 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and Sept. 1.
