Lower Milford Township supervisors give update on local construction

During the Lower Milford Township Supervisors meeting, supervisors discussed construction delays, a new garage security system and announced a new construction notice.

The monthly meeting, which took place July 17, sparked frustration from a resident after there was little to no updated information on the Maplewood subdivision construction. The delay in construction had some in the neighborhood HOA concerned paving or other work would be happening when school begins again in the fall, creating a disruption.

Mark Cappuccio, Esq., the township solicitor, said the settlement discussion with real estate management group Gambone is still ongoing and has included a lot of back and forth, which played a part in causing the delay.

“We were waiting two and a half weeks for a response, but we did get a response,” Cappuccio said. “We’re down to a very minor issue ... I’m hoping it’s going to be resolved soon.”

In old business, the board continued the discussion of the security proposal for the main public works garage. Supervisors had received a quote from a company the township worked with prior, which would add an intrusion detection system with 10 security key fobs, costing $9,380.

Supervisor Tim Cougle objected to the quote, saying an intrusion system installed on its own would make more sense for a small term project, instead of adding the more costly key fobs along with it.

“I just want to do a simple alarm system,” Cougle said. “An alarm system for that building should cost no more than $1,000.”

The board agreed a simple intrusion alarm system would be the best course of action and made plans to get more quotes for the proposal.

Supervisors announced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation was posting plans between July 22 and Aug. 19 about the future construction on a bridge on Limeport Pike over the Hosensack Creek.

The notice, which can be found on the Lower Milford Township website, provides a link to the PennDOT website where residents can look at the upcoming plans and give public comments about the project through Aug. 18.

The construction on the bridge is anticipated to begin during the summer of 2027 and end during the winter of 2027.

The next meeting of the Lower Milford Township supervisors is scheduled 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Lower Milford township office, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
