SP Sr. Connie Mack team beats Forks, No. Lehigh

The South Parkland Senior Connie Mack team won both of its games last week.

The Trojans defeated Forks Township 10-5 last Friday afternoon and followed that up with an 11-1 victory in six innings over Northern Lehigh on Monday evening.

In the win against Forks, South Parkland did all of its scoring in the first three innings to take a big lead and ease its way to victory. The Trojans scored twice in the top of the first, once in the second and then recorded a seven-run top of the third inning.

An RBI groundout by Brooks Wetherhold and a run-scoring single from Henry Morse tallied the two runs in the first and Shaye Wanamaker ran home on a wild pitch in the second.

In the third, both Dylan Mitchell and Brayden Zobel ripped RBI doubles and each of Wetherhold and Nolan Parsell tallied run-scoring singles.

Zobel earned the victory on the mound, throwing four innings and allowing just three hits with no earned runs. Liam Gerhart and Zobel led the lineup with three hits and Luke Habash finished with two hits.

In the victory against the Bulldogs, South Parkland scored four runs in the top of the first inning and then tacked on five in the fifth and two in the sixth to enact the mercy rule.

In the first, Habash doubled in a run and then Wetherhold and Zobel recorded back-to-back RBI singles. Zobel also doubled in the sixth for two runs and Wanamaker, Mitchell and Gerhart all had RBI singles to cap the scoring.

Wanamaker started and threw four innings, giving up just one run and three hits, striking out five to record the victory. Habash and Wetherhold tallied three hits and Nolan Wampler, Gerhart, Zobel and Mitchell all notched two hits.

The victories give South Parkland a three-game win streak and put the Trojans at 8-3 overall, sitting in sixth place in the league standings out of 21 teams.
