LM Connie Mack team tops Hornets, Moore

The Lower Macungie Senior Connie Mack team had a successful week last week with two wins and a draw.

The Mustangs finished in a 4-4 tie against Nazareth last Wednesday and then recorded back-to-back victories, a 14-1 win at Emmaus Friday and a 4-2 victory at Moore Township on Sunday.

In the draw with the Blue Eagles, the Mustangs took a 4-2 lead after three innings, and just as weather was beginning to affect the game, Nazareth scored twice in the fifth to tie the score and it was called due to rain.

Gavin Galligani had two hits and an RBI and both Sully Hochbein and Jackson Burton tallied a hit, with Carter Granitz contributing an RBI.

In the matchup with the Hornets, the Mustangs opened the game with two runs in the first inning and then added two in both the third and sixth, along with three in the fifth and five in the seventh.

Galligani finished with a team-best four hits and three RBIs. Hochbein, Ben Roth, Daniel Rusiecki, Granitz and Logan Kershner recorded a hit each. Burton threw a complete game and gave up just one run and four hits, striking out nine.

Against the Redhawks, Lower Mac opened the game with a run in the first inning. Moore tied it with a run in the third and took the lead with one more in the sixth.

With their backs against the wall, the Mustangs brought in three runs in the seventh to secure the win.

Rocco Gasper, Roth and Justin Spagna finished with two hits each. Roth and Spagna contributing two RBIs. Galligani, Granitz and Kershner each had one hit. Haughney threw six innings, allowing two runs and striking out five to earn the win.

Lower Mac is now 8-4-1 overall.
