Last week, the Emmaus Senior Connie Mack team ended a four-game losing streak with a win, but after that victory the Green Hornets concluded last weekend with back-to-back defeats.
Emmaus hosted back-to-back games over the weekend, falling to rival Lower Macungie 14-1 on Friday and then following that with a 14-8 defeat against Hellertown.
In the game with the Mustangs, Lower Mac started its offense in the first inning, scoring twice adding two more in the third. The Hornets lone run came on an RBI groundout by Ryley George, who tied the team lead with two hits, along with Henry Pina Thevenint. Jack Smith recorded a hit and scored a run, while both Braiden Marshall and Liam Iannetta ended with a hit.
Against Hellertown,
the first two innings were scoreless, but from that point on the runs came at a plenty. Hellertown got on the scoreboard with the first run of the game in the top of the third. The Hornets answered with seven runs in the third and fourth innings combined, with three coming in the third, and held a 7-5 lead going into the sixth. That’s when Hellertown turned it around with a six-run top of the sixth inning and then adding three in the seventh.
Emmaus was outhit 16-7 with seven different players recording a hit. Sam Fleetwood, Owen Herrity, George, Davey Schmidt, Marshall, Geovany Ray and Smith all came away with a hit with Herrity tallying two RBIs. Fleetwood added two runs and an RBI, while George and Thevenint had an RBI each.
Emmaus is now 2-7 overall and sits 15th in the league standings out of 21 teams.
