EHS names student of the week

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. I live with my mother, Andrea, father, Michael and my twin sister, Grace.

Q. Having recently completed high school, do you have any special plans for this summer?

A. This summer, I want to relax and find a part-time job locally.

Q. What was your favorite class at Emmaus High School? Why?

A. My favorite class at Emmaus High School was a tie between AP Government with Mr. Pum and broadcasting and film with Mrs. Kuebler. AP Government was such an interesting class and Mr. Pum never made the class boring. Each day was different from the previous class. On the other hand, broadcasting and film with Mrs. Kuebler was always fun, and she was such a great teacher who taught me more than just broadcasting and film. She also taught me many lifelong skills. This is just one of the many teachers I have had at Emmaus who are amazing!

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. Yes, I was on the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years. I was inducted into my school’s chapter of National Honor Society my senior year. Additionally, I was also an honor graduate recipient at graduation.

Q. Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? How did being involved in these organizations impact your high school experience?

A. I was involved in both new student mentoring (in 11th and 12th grade) and Hornet Ambassadors (in 12th grade only). Being involved in these organizations impacted my high school experience by allowing me to build connections with the freshmen in new student mentoring and help new students feel comfortable when it comes to knowing their way around Emmaus High School, as I worked as a Hornet Ambassador.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date was when I was a freshman and was starting high school at Emmaus. It was my first year of being back in school in person after spending eighth grade completely virtual. The school seemed so big and I was so scared to go back to in-person school, but I was able to figure out how to get around the school with a little help and working through it with perseverance.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My next goal after high school is to go to Muhlenberg College in the fall and major in either premed and/or media and communications, or potentially both.

Q. If you could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, whom would you choose? Why?

A. If I could spend an evening conversing with a historically significant person, I would choose Jim Henson because Henson had a lot of creativity and I love the Muppets. I think it would be interesting to see and hear firsthand how he came up with the Muppets and how he found the creativity to create characters like the Muppets, Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street among others.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my work ethic, dedication to school and helping the underclassmen as well as new students through both new student mentoring and Hornet Ambassadors. Long-term, I would like to be remembered for helping others, my energy and enthusiasm and more importantly, my willingness to work hard for a goal set with others.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice for my peers would be to get involved in your freshman year. Waiting until senior year to get involved will feel like it is too late to get involved.
