Annual flea market at St. Joseph the Worker, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Ziegels Vacation Bible School for youth who have completed kindergarten to sixth grade will be offered 6-8:15 p.m. at 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville. The Alaskan theme is called True North, Trusting Jesus in Our Wild World. Participants will learn about Jesus and the gospel of Matthew at Bible Adventures and Sticky Scripture, play Glacier Games, eat snacks at Tundra Treats and do science experiments at Imagination Station. Upper Macungie Township will hold its Grub and Groove at Grange series 5-8 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 25 in the parking lot Pavilion No. 1 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road. Come out and enjoy various food trucks and music.
June 28
Morgenland Union Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will hold its summer picnic 4-9 p.m. June 28. Music will be by ”Waitin’ on Sundown” 6-9 p.m. There will be food, a cake walk and fellowship.
The township’s free Concert in the Park series will feature the David Koster Band 6 p.m. and the Kelly Bell Band 7:30 p.m. at Grange Park. Concerts will be held monthly through October and will showcase outdoor live music.
Food and beverage vendors will include Grubnight, The Wicked Chef, Wow Wagon, McCall Collective Brewing, Clover Hill Winery, Triple Sun Spirits and Pop Truck.

Celebrate and show off your pride at Hawk Mountain. All visitors that wear rainbow apparel or accessories will receive half off their trail admission. Current members that show their pride and support will receive a 15% discount on most merchandise. Create a pollinator garden, 10 a.m. Learn from Hawk Mountain volunteers what it takes to create a sustainable year-round pollinator garden. This includes learning about the pollinators that will come to visit and what they need for their entire life cycle. They will also recommend specific pollinator-friendly plants that will really help make your pollinator garden come to life. A tour of the Native Habitat Garden will follow the presentation, so dress for the weather. This event is ADA accessible.

The Northwestern Lehigh Firefighter Foundation will host its second annual Firefighter Appreciation Picnic 1-5 p.m. at Ontelaunee Park, New Tripoli. The foundation was established in response to the tragic loss of firefighters Zachary Paris and Marvin Gruber of New Tripoli Fire Company while battling a house fire Dec. 7, 2022. The picnic will feature live music performed by The Large Flowerheads, accompanied by food trucks including Heart and Hearth Deli and Smokehouse, JRad Pizza, Nesting Box Ice Cream, Taco Town and mocktails provided by Eight Oaks Farm Distillery. The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy this picnic and show their appreciation for community volunteer firefighters and their families. Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild meeting 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 Tilghman St., Allentown. Guild president Jessica Dayon, a quilt pattern designer, will present a program and trunk show entitled “Designing a Quilt from Concept to Finished Quilt.” There is a small fee for visitors, who are welcome. Celebrate Independence Day weekend at Hawk Mountain and wear red, white and blue apparel or accessories to receive half off your trail admission. And Mountain Members who wear the colors are eligible to pick a flag for a prize in the visitor center.

Registration is open for the 16th annual Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley Ready, Set, GOLD 5K Walk/8K Run and Kids’ Fun Run scheduled for Sept. 13 at the Ironton Rail Trail. The 8K Run starts 8:30 a.m. The 5K Walk begins 9 a.m. The Kid’s Fun Run/Obstacle Course for kids 12 and under starts 10:30 a.m. Register by July 6 to take advantage of the early-bird pricing. Compass USA who works to bring international students to the U.S. for three weeks in the summer is looking for families to host three French students. Students will experience the life of an American teenager while enhancing their English skills. The students will participate in six excursions with Compass USA Coordinator Jamie Drozdowski Walker; the rest of the time they’ll be part of the host family – dinners, shopping trips, game nights, weekend fun – just everyday life. Pack up your paints and spend a day plein air painting at Lehigh Gap Nature Center 9 a.m. to noon or Aug. 6. Join nature center staff for this open-format program where each participant is invited to bring their own supplies (all mediums are welcome) and create artwork outside inspired by the Lehigh Gap Refuge. Compact travel easels are available to borrow, but you are welcome to bring your own set up. Each person must bring their own art supplies. They have water containers for paint and limited brushes available to borrow. The plein air session will take place outside; dress for the weather and wear shoes fit for walking outside. Please note there is no instructor leading this program. Free plein air painting days are an opportunity to create art alongside other artists while enjoying the views of the Lehigh Gap.
