Police hold annual event

A little bit of showers and cloudy skies did not stop the annual North Catasauqua Police Association Community Day May 30. It wasn’t rain, but rather the children, families, neighbors and community supporters that flooded North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St.

Pennsylvania State Police’s mounted, LCE, water and air rescue and K-9 units, local police and fire personnel and military members were represented.

Visitors talked with craft vendors and outreach organizations and enjoyed food from the many food trucks lining the street.

Children enjoyed the bounce house, face painting and assorted activities provided by the police association.

This is an annual event for residents and law enforcement. The community becomes familiar with law enforcement services, and law enforcement has the opportunity to listen and understand the needs of the community — all in all, an informative fun environment.

This event is sponsored by the Northampton County Hotel Tax Grant. The county competitively awards grants to be funded from revenues collected from the Northampton County Hotel Tax. The tax funds are provided for under Northampton County Resolution 440 of 2005, as authorized by P.L. 307 of 2000 and amended by Act 12 of 2005, by imposing a Hotel Room Rental Tax of 4% on hotel guests, to be used for tourism and community development initiatives. These funds are intended to support events or project expenses, such as promotional costs and capital improvements.
