Alois ‘Al’ J. Recker

Alois “Al” J. Recker, 88, of Coplay, died peacefully June 14, 2025, at home.

Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Alois V. and Mary (Schrantz) Recker.

He honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

He worked as a reporter at the former Bethlehem Globe-Times, Whitehall-Coplay Press and Northampton Press for many years.

He volunteered as a coach at Christ the King School for the boys fifth- and sixth-grade basketball team for more than 20 years.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

He is survived by a son, Matthew and wife Nicole; three grandchildren, Kayden, Sophie and Izabella; a sister, Carol Correia and husband Joseph; a niece, Donna Wood and husband Mark; a nephew, Al and wife Juliann; several other nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Lulu.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Reichl and Anna Edelman.

There will be a calling time 8-10 a.m. June 24 at Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. June 24 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4. S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.

Contributions may be presented to the church in his memory.
