Trojan boys lax rolls over Emmaus in season finale
The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team finished the 2025 regular season last week with two Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games, falling by one goal in the home finale, but ending the season on a positive note with a road victory.
The Trojans fell to Central Catholic 14-13 last Tuesday night, April 29, but answered with a 21-6 victory on against rival Emmaus last Thursday night.
In the game with the Vikings, Parkland jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the opening quarter, but the Vikings responded by outscoring them 6-2 in the second to go on top 8-6 at halftime and never trailed the rest of the way, holding on in the end. Colton Arezzi and Blake Finnegan both finished with hat tricks, while Parker Kusko recorded two goals and one assist. Both Matt Kelley and Danny Tapia tallied a goal and an assist and John Gerancher, Bailey Wetmore and Max Esteban rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Esteban won 21 faceoffs and Andrew Matulevicius finished with 12 saves.
In the victory over the Hornets, the Trojans raced out to a 9-2 lead after the first quarter and outscored Emmaus 7-0 in the third to take full control of the game. Gerancher recorded eight goals and an assist and Kusko netted seven goals. Arezzi notched three goals and eight assists. Kelley contributed two goals and two assists, and Matt Scott added one goal. Esteban won 22 faceoffs. Matulevicius (9) and Evan Saylor (2) combined for 11 saves.
Parkland, which improved to 14-4 overall and 7-2 in the conference, earned the three seed in the conference tournament and had a rematch against the Vikings in the semifinal round Wednesday at Northampton High School’s Al Erdosy Stadium.
The other two semifinalists were the top seed, Easton, and the fourth seed, Nazareth. Semifinal winners will play for league gold Tuesday, May 13 at Northampton as part of a girls/boys championship doubleheader.
